How JeddAI Works
JeddAI is a teacher-trained AI marking assistant designed to help teachers provide feedback on student work quickly and effectively. This guide explains how to use JeddAI responsibly, optimise its functionalities, and maintain compliance with ethical and privacy standards.
JeddAI uses an LLM (e.g. Gemini Pro 1.5) to analyse student responses (typed or handwritten) and provides draft feedback based on curriculum-aligned rubrics. Teachers can review, edit, and supplement this feedback before finalising it.
The JeddAI portal allows teachers to assign self-assessment tasks, peer-to-peer feedback tasks and formative writing tasks with or without the use of AI marking assistance. Teachers can switch the AI on or off for each class depending on their needs and preferences.

Effective Usage of AI
- Ensure the task and rubric are correctly set up before assigning work and uploading responses.
- Customise your comment banks and rubrics for detailed, consistent and personalised feedback suggestions from JeddAI.
- Review and customise all AI-generated feedback before sharing with students.
Responsible Use of AI
- AI tools should be used solely to enhance educational outcomes, such as providing constructive and curriculum-aligned feedback.
- Teachers should review all AI-generated feedback before sharing it with students to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Use AI as a support tool only, not a replacement for professional judgement or personalised feedback.
- Do not upload sensitive or irrelevant student information that is unnecessary for the feedback process.
- Inform students when AI has been used to assist with feedback and clarify the teacher’s role in reviewing it.
- Regularly evaluate AI outputs for fairness and potential biases, ensuring equitable treatment of all students.
- When quoting or referencing AI feedback, ensure it aligns with the assignment’s objectives and student needs.
- Promptly report any inaccuracies, technical malfunctions, or concerns about AI-generated feedback to Jeddle’s support team.
- Engage with Jeddle’s training materials and updates to understand the platform’s capabilities and limitations.
- Use AI tools in compliance with Jeddle’s AI Policy Statement and ethical guidelines.
- Avoid over-reliance on indicative grading from AI. Teachers should review and edit any relevant marking rubrics before submitting feedback to students.
- When AI is involved in the feedback process for a task, ensure that critical thinking and self-reflection is involved (e.g. by including Jeddle’s self-assessment tools).
